Week Ending 13th July 2012

This has been a busy week for everyone!

On Saturday it was the annual village carnival.  Our float based on the book "The Queen's Knickers" was wonderfully cheerful and colourful, and clearly impressed the judges, as we won first prize!  Despite the occasional heavy rain shower, a lovely time was had by all on board, as our photos show...

Monday was a Whole School Open Evening, when most children enjoyed sharing their achievements with their families.

On Wednesday Badgers enjoyed swimming, and are excitedly looking forward to their "Fun Swim" next week.

"Meet Your New Teachers" was on Thursday morning, for parents and pupils, and all the children are looking forward to the new challenges and experience in the new school year.

As usual there will be Friday soccer available after school.

Next week it will be just as busy:

Monday: School Council Games Evening
Tuesday: Leavers' Disco
Wednesday: Hamster / Hedgehogs and Otters Sports events
Thursday: Year 4 Graduation Ceremony
Friday: Games Day

WE WISH YOU ALL A VERY PLEASANT HOLIDAY!

Week Ending 6th July 2012

On Tuesday, the last Sharing Assembly was held - lots of children celebrated their achievements and the audience enjoyed seeing samples of work, drawings, and 3D models.  Well done to all those who have obviously been working so hard!

Lunch on Wednesday was extra special, as one of the desserts was rhubarb crumble, with freshly picked rhubarb from our wonderful allotment.  Our hens continue to lay well, and are very sociable!  They do, however, seem to be partial to painted toe nails!!  (Adults of course.)

Hamsters and Hedgehogs have been "up and away," as they worked on fluffy clouds for the carnival float.  Otters have been doing art and craft and creating enormous crowns, also for the float.  Squirrels have designed and made chairs for winning athletes... colours of course are red, white and blue.  Rabbits have been considering the body and the effects of exercise, involving lots of calculations.  They have also focused on "CORGIS!!"  Badgers have been studying the works of Shakespeare, and have "had a go" at composing in similar style.

** REMEMBER: CARNIVAL PROCESSION SATURDAY **

Week Ending 29th June 2012

This week ended on a tremendous high, due to our visit to Stockwood Park Running Track.  Friday was a lovely, sunny day, perfect for a picnic, and running and relay events.  The children ran in age groups, and showed great spirit, as they cheered on their peers and friends.  The relay races formed the climax to the day, and not a baton was dropped!

Before leaving there was an Awards Ceremony, when gold, silver and bronze awards, for each event, were presented.  The winners looked very proud to have their photographs taken.  Enjoy sharing our special day out by looking at a selection of pictures.

Week Ending 22nd June 2012

This week, there have been lots of visits: tennis coach for Year 2 children, EB Lions (football) for Year 4, after school soccer coach for all in age ranges Y1 - Y4...  Year 4 children have also had the opportunity to swim, on a Wednesday.  Gosh, what a lot of energy!  Meanwhile... in School, all classes have been practising for for our forthcoming visit to Stockwood Park.  The relay is proving particularly popular... so if your rolling pin appears to be missing, do check that it's not being used as a relay baton!

Badgers have completed the decoration of their Greek pottery; Rabbits have designed and made fantastic Olympic t-shirts; Squirrels have been making circuits and switches, so that their unique torches light up.  Most now want to be electricians!

Otters have been completing some special phonic work, whilst Hedgehogs have been investigating pushes and pulls, putting their findings into practise in the playground with bikes and scooters!  Hamsters have made a lovely colourful puppet theatre from a large cardboard box, and have began work on their "Garden Centre."

Our annual Summer Fair was held on Saturday, raising a large amount for School funds.  The weather was fairly kind, and all who came along to support us, seemed to enjoy themselves.  there were delicious aromas emerging from the barbecue and candy floss rooms!  Thank you to all those who helped before, during and after the event.

Our next task is to decorate our float, for the Carnival on 7th July.  In School all children will help to make items, so that everyone is included in the fun.  Parents of children on the float are also helping on Thursday, Friday or Saturday morning.  Thanks to all, in anticipation.

Welcome back to the final half-term before the long summer holiday!  (Hopefully sunny and dry...!)

The half term started with an Open Gardens Sunday, when the School and its grounds were open to the public.  Many visitors came along for refreshments and were very complimentary about our well kept, colourful and interesting grounds.  Thank you to those who organised, helped, cooked and baked!

On Wednesday, a group of Year 3s and Year 4s took part in the "K'nex Challenge", building complicated moving structures, and impressing the judges with their problem solving skills, presentation, communication and teamwork!
