Week Ending 27th May 2016

Early on Monday morning, eighteen excited Year 5 children boarded two minibuses, heading down to Devon for a fun packed week at Beam House PGL Centre, near Bideford.

They have enjoyed a fantastic week, with glorious sunshine, and taken part in all sorts of adventurous activities, including body boarding, street surfing, high ropes, aeroball and much more.

Once again, we have been able to follow their adventures via Twitter, and parents have been able to see photos of their children's happy faces - and assess just how much laundry they will need to do on their child's return...

As you can see, they have had a wonderful time, and we are very proud of them for their good behaviour and great attitude throughout the week.  Everyone got fully involved in all the activities, and really got the most out of their experience.  Well done Foxes, you are a credit to the school!

Back at EBA, the children have enjoyed a relaxing week, with plenty of art, craft and music on the timetable.  The School Choir are busy rehearsing their harmonies in preparation for the Edlesborough Music Festival in June, and the ukulele group is perfecting their song in readiness for a performance at the HSA Fun Day.

Squirrels Class enjoyed a post SATs picnic on Monday, feasting on chocolate cupcakes and having fun in the park.  They have also been very creative and made paper carnations as a follow up to their local history work last week.

There has been a Grecian theme to much of the artwork done in school this week, which is linked to our Olympic topic for this term, as the children find out more about the Ancient Greek Olympics.  Rabbits Class have made and decorated Greek pottery, while children in Badgers, Foxes and Deer Classes have been painting art work for our Carnival float, which will have a mythical theme this year...

Children in Deer Class meanwhile, are exploring another aspect of Ancient Greek culture, and are engaging in philosophical debates, which they are thoroughly enjoying.  The hot topic of discussion this week has been whether twelve year olds should be allowed mobile phones.  As you can imagine, the children have plenty of opinions on this matter!

Our library has been having something of a refurbishment this week, with new bookcases, tables and chairs, and lots and lots of lovely new books, paid for by donations from parents following our Readathon last week.  We are looking forward to creating a fabulous space in which to continue our "Reading Revolution!"

Have a lovely half term!  We are back on Monday 6th June.
