Week ending 2nd November 2018

Everyone has returned from the half term holiday this week, feeling refreshed, and hopefully ready for what will no doubt be a busy few weeks...

Despite it being a holiday, the school was a hive of activity on Tuesday during half term, when a team of willing volunteers - parents, grandparents, children and school staff - formed a working party to come in a tackle some much needed painting jobs around the school.  The children's toilet blocks all got a fresh coat of paint, and are now looking super!

Thank you to all those supportive families who gave up their time to help out, and to Mr Flack who very generously donated the paint.

Hamsters children have been enjoying some seasonal autumn activities this week.  They carved pumpkins for Halloween, then left them under the trees for the squirrels to enjoy.  They also had fun creating firework pictures and had a lovely time playing on some piano keyboards that were kindly donated to the Nursery.

Rabbits Class have been continuing to learn about the Anglo Saxons.  They created some Anglo Saxon patterns, thinking about the shape and lines that would have been used, and the colours that would have been available as natural dyes back in those days.

As part of their World War Two topic, Foxes Class children have written and illustrated some wonderful poems about The Blitz:

Next week we will be observing Remembrance Day, and commemorating the 100 year anniversary of the World War One Armistice. The whole school will be completing some special homework tasks, and there will be a display of WWI artefacts in the School entrance.  If anyone has anything that they would be able to contribute to the display, please bring it to school next week.
