Week Ending 20th October 2017
Hedgehogs Forest Play area is taking shape nicely. The working party of staff, parents and children were busy again last weekend, digging, building and painting to make the space look marvellous. After a busy couple of hours, everyone enjoyed a well earned picnic feast.
As we approach the half term holiday, this has been a week of finishing up tasks and finalising projects. We had Parents Evening on Wednesday night, which gave Mums and Dads the opportunity to come in and have a look at all the lovely work that their children have been doing over the past few weeks, and to have a chat with teachers about how they have been getting on.
Rabbits and Badgers Classes have enjoyed learning about the Ancient Egyptians this half term. They have produced excellent work, and some particularly impressive homework. Well done to everyone for your enthusiasm and creativity.
Children in Squirrels Class have been making cars in DT, as part of their "Voyages Around the World" topic. They have learnt all about axles, chassis and wheels, and have used lots of different materials to build their vehicles. They very proudly displayed the finished items this week.
Foxes Class children made some wonderfully colourful salads during their EBA Enterprise sessions this week. They are always instructed to "think outside of the box" when considering ingredients, and to make their dishes as appetising and interesting as possible!
Mrs Cooney was the lucky staff member who got to taste and judge the finished products, and her winning choice was a tasty mixed leave salad, served in a wine goblet, with feta cheese and Rose Marie dressing.
Friday was a non-uniform day, in return for a donation to the HSA, so an opportunity to raise some additional funds for some of the "extras" that make school enjoyable. Everyone wore their favourite clothes, fancy dress costumes, superhero outfits...!
Friday also included, as usual, Awards Assembly, and a special certificate for Jessica in Year 5, who has broken the school record (girls) for the 1500m, half mile and one mile races. Well done Jess!
Finally, we ended the week with a fond farewell Mrs O'Connell, a member of staff who has worked in Early Years at EBA for almost ten years, and has also been an enthusiastic Forest School Leader and After School Club Supervisor. We will all miss her, but wish her well in her new career.
That's all for now - time for a rest... Have a wonderful half term!
