Week Ending 14th March 2014

This week, at long last, the children have been able to play outdoors, in the bright sunshine.  Our gardens are coming to life, with an abundance of golden daffodils, and attractive hanging baskets, at the entrance to school.

The School foyer has been refurbished, so that parents and visitors only have to wait at the window, to gain help or advice, from the office staff. This relieves the need to actually enter the office, so allowing it to operate more efficiently without interruptions.

On Wednesday, year three children went on an outing to Frogmore Paper Mill, in Hemel Hempstead. The history of the mill was explained, on arrival, followed by a tour of the mill, to understand exactly how paper is made.  Each child had the opportunity to make a piece of paper - each page unique, and decorated with satsuma skin!  Did you know that paper can even be impregnated with seeds, that may then be sown in gardens, once the card is no longer required?

The children helped to operate the lock gates on the canal, and had an exciting trip on the paper mill's barge. The day culminated with boat racing!
